Building Construction Photography: Documenting Progress

The M3 Melbourne is NEXTDC’s latest hyperscale technology campus. Situated in West Footscray, the site spans 100,000sqm and is being developed into a 150MW data centre and technology campus. Capture Point Media was commissioned to provide building construction photography for this project, incorporating the use of time-lapse video technology.

Data centres are the cornerstones for successful digital businesses. Australia’s largest locally owned and operated data centre provider, NEXTDC has nine data centres so far that are certified to the highest global standards. They provide secure, reliable, and high‑performance data centre and interconnection solutions to both enterprise and government organisations. Having built and operate on Australia’s most cloud‑connected data centre network, NEXTDC works hard in providing organisations with the most direct access to the leading public cloud platforms, networks, and IT services infrastructure; thus making them Australia’s most trusted provider of premium data centre solutions.

In the Kapitol Group and NEXTDC collaboration to construct this impressive new data centre, our building construction photography team set out to film some stunning time-lapse footage to tell that story. The data centre has reached the milestone of building 6 huge industrial water tanks at M3. Each tank holds 166,000 litres of water or 996,000 litres in total—enough to provide water for a small town! It is making great progress and is on track for project completion in September 2022.

The Versatility of Building Construction Photography

We all know that time-lapse videos are fun to watch, and easily shareable on social media to gain more attention. But did you know that it can also be a powerful tool for clients, investors, designers, or stakeholders? They show the progress of a project over time in a way that words can’t. Combined with Capture Point Media’s powerful and secure back-end monitoring system, your team will be able to remotely view the project. You can monitor the site for things like OH&S, security and project progress, or easily show the latest photos in your next stakeholder meeting.

Our building construction photography crew has been producing high-definition time-lapse videos for construction projects for over ten years. We have developed a reputation for delivering high quality work that is always on time and on budget. We work with clients from initial engagement through final delivery, providing end-to-end solutions in time-lapse video production.
